Configure TermPilot AI Translator

Sign in for free Credits or set up your own model provider, then use TermPilot from the popup, context menu, or floating panel on professional web pages.

1. Install from the Chrome Web Store

Open the Chrome Web Store, search for termpilot, find TermPilot, and choose Add to Chrome.

TermPilot is built for desktop Chrome extension use. The public website remains mobile-readable, but the extension workflow is desktop-first.

Install the extension, then sign in for free Credits or open the settings page before your first translation.

Install from ZIP

Cannot access the Chrome Web Store? Download the ZIP and install it in desktop Chrome.

Download ZIP

Version: 1.4.0

  1. Download and extract the ZIP to a permanent folder. Keep the extracted folder after installation.
  2. Enter chrome://extensions in the address bar and enable Developer mode.
  3. Click “Load unpacked” and select the extracted folder containing manifest.json.
  4. Pin TermPilot in the extensions menu, then open Settings to sign in or configure your own API key.

ZIP installations do not update automatically: replace the files in the same folder with the latest version and click Reload on the extensions page. Removing the extension clears its local data.

2. Sign in for free Credits

Sign in at termpilot.top with Google or an email code. New accounts receive free Credits for the official model, granted once per account and once per device.

Credits are used according to content length and task complexity. Skip this step if you would rather use your own API key; BYOK tasks do not consume Credits.

3. Add a model provider

Choose a preset model name or enter a custom OpenAI-compatible model. When a preset is selected, TermPilot fills the matching endpoint automatically.

Your API key is saved in Chrome extension storage and is used only by the extension when it sends requests directly to your configured provider.

DeepSeek, Qwen, OpenAI-compatible providers, and custom endpoints use the same direct request path.

4. Choose translation defaults

Set the target language, professional domain, translation style, consistency check, polishing, floating button visibility, and optional fallback model.

Automatic domain mode infers the page context. Manual mode lets you choose a built-in or custom domain when you need more control.

5. Use the floating panel

Open a supported webpage and use the TermPilot floating button. With no selection, page translation can process the full page in batches. With a selection, TermPilot processes only that selected text.

The panel includes translation, explanation, summary, Q&A, note generation, and vocabulary extraction.

The same panel shows scope, domain, direction, model, progress, export, and copy controls.

6. Add page annotations

Select text on a page, open the annotation action, and save a note anchored to that passage.

Annotations stay in local Chrome extension storage and can be restored when you revisit the same page.

Save a note beside the selected passage without leaving the page.

7. Review your vocabulary

Open Vocabulary from the extension panel to review words collected from selected passages or generated results. Today presents one word at a time; keep a word for later, mark it remembered, or add it to Favorites.

Vocabulary remains in Chrome extension storage. When you sign in, TermPilot also synchronizes your terms, translations, source, page title, notes, learning state, timestamps, removal records, bounded source context and sanitized source URL so your account can use the learning page. Source credentials, query parameters, and fragments are removed. Active entries remain until you remove them.

Review one word at a time, then return to Favorites or your full library.

8. Export results locally

Full-page translations export as print-ready bilingual PDF pages with source and translated primary content, excluding site navigation, sidebars, and footers when possible.

Explanation, summary, Q&A, note, and vocabulary results export through the browser print dialog as PDF. Vocabulary can also download as CSV. Files are generated locally and are not uploaded to TermPilot.

Exports are generated in the browser from the current result.

9. Understand privacy behavior

In BYOK direct mode, AI request content goes from the extension directly to the model provider you configured and your API key is not sent to TermPilot.

When you use official Credits, the task content is sent to the TermPilot API and forwarded to the official model provider. It is processed transiently and is not stored by TermPilot as prompt or response content.

TermPilot can receive metadata without user identifiers for AI task outcomes and feature interactions used in reliability analysis, such as event type, success state, coarse error code, model/provider labels, language/domain settings, counts, duration, version, locale, and content region.
