Common questions
Short answers for install, account, Credits, and membership questions. The setup guide still covers the full workflow.
Install and use
Where does the extension run?
TermPilot is built for desktop Chrome. Install it from the Chrome Web Store and use the floating button on a webpage.
The public website stays readable on a phone. The extension workflow itself is desktop-first.
I cannot find the floating button. What is the difference between page and selection translation?
Open a normal webpage and look for the TermPilot button. With no selection, page translation can process the full page in batches. With a selection, TermPilot processes only that selected text.
Where are annotations and vocabulary stored?
Annotations stay in local Chrome extension storage and can be restored when you revisit the same page.
Vocabulary also starts in extension storage. After you sign in, TermPilot syncs terms, translations, source, page title, notes, learning state, timestamps, and removal records. Page URLs are not synced.
Are PDF and CSV exports uploaded?
No. Full-page translations, explanations, summaries, Q&A, notes, and vocabulary files are generated in the browser from the current result.
Account and sign-in
Do the website and the extension share an account?
Yes. Sign in with the same account on termpilot.top and in the Chrome extension so your Credits, membership, and synced vocabulary stay linked to that account.
How can I sign in?
Use Google, or request an email verification code. Both methods use the same account.
How long are unverified accounts kept, and who sends account emails?
Unverified accounts are cleaned after 24 hours. Email verification codes and support reply notifications are sent through Resend.
Credits and your API key
How do free Credits work?
New accounts receive free Credits for the official model. They are granted once per account and once per device.
When are Credits used?
Credits are used according to content length and task complexity.
Tasks sent with your own API key do not consume Credits.
Where is my API key stored?
Your API key is saved in Chrome extension storage. The extension uses it only when it sends a request directly to the provider you configured.
Membership and payments
How do membership Credits arrive?
Each plan includes a fixed Credits allotment every billing month. Yearly plans also grant Credits monthly instead of all at once.
What do I confirm before checkout?
Membership renews automatically at the displayed price until you cancel in the billing portal. Checkout asks you to confirm that auto-renewal and the purchase before payment continues.
Can I get a refund?
You can ask Paddle for a discretionary refund within 14 days of the charge. Fees are non-refundable once Credits have been consumed, except where applicable law requires a refund.
If a refund is approved, the membership ends immediately and remaining unused membership Credits are removed. An approved refund by itself does not block a new checkout.
Why is checkout unavailable after a payment dispute?
After a payment dispute or chargeback, a new membership checkout may be unavailable for up to 90 days. Contact support if you believe this is a mistake.
